Welcome to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Ealing

Welcome to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Ealing. Socialists sign Petition, Socialists Present their Petition, Socialist Councillors then vote for the Socialist motion to support the Socialist petition. But it's Democratic because the public can watch!

And the BBC (Broadcasters of Bolshevism & Communism) told the plebs that the Comrades (Councillors) would debate both sides. And ten Councillors (Comrades) congratulated everyone for speaking in favour of the motion and thus having had a great debate.

Please support The Good Counsel Network by attending their peaceful Pro-Life prayer vigils and donate to help Mothers who choose to continue their pregnancies in the face of opposition.

'GK Chesterton' Supports 40 Days for Life

40 Days for Life, has saved a good number of babies from abortion since it arrived here in England two years ago. Over five thousand lives have been saved Worldwide and more than 20 abortion 'clinics' have closed down. It is quite simple, Christians are asked to pray, fast and witness for 40 days for the end of abortion. You are asked to come and peaceful pray at the abortion 'clinic'. At the Whitfield St abortuary in London it there will be a peaceful presence 24 hours a day 7 days a week from Wednesday 26th September until Sunday 4th November. For details and to sign up to help see; http://www.40daysforlife.com/london-whitfield/

The Catholic GK Chesterton Society are calling on all Catholics to support 40 Days For Life. "We are asking Catholics to find their local 40 Days for Life vigil and support it", a spokesman said. "Chesterton was ahead of his time in exposing the eugenics movement for the evil that it is. We are asking people to read GKC's book, Eugenics and other Evils, during the 40 Days, which can be read here; http://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/25308 [It will also appear on this blog] We would also urge everyone to say the prayer for the Beatification of GK Chesterton everyday from 26th September until 4th November, with the intention that an abortion 'clinic' in England will close." Printable prayercards can be found here; http://www.catholicgkchestertonsociety.co.uk (or contact us and we can post you a copy).

Chesterton Answers the Population Myth

In 1925 Chesterton wrote an introduction to Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol in which he said that “The answer to anyone who talks about the surplus population is to ask him, whether he is part of the surplus population; or if not, how he knows he is not.”

Elsewhere, in an essay titled “Social Reform vs. Birth Control,” Chesterton argued that it is typically the wealthy elite who are interested in promoting population control as a solution to poverty, often simply as a means of avoiding dealing with the more difficult root problems that lead to poverty. "If [the Birth-Controller] can prevent his servants from having families, he need not support those families. Why the devil should he?” wrote Chesterton. “The landlord or the employer says in his hearty and handsome fashion: ‘You really cannot expect me to deprive myself of my money. But I will make a sacrifice. I will deprive myself of your children.’”

Prayer for the Beatification of GK Chesterton

God Our Father, Thou didst fill the life of Thy servant Gilbert Keith Chesterton with a sense of wonder and joy, and gave him a faith which was the foundation of his ceaseless work, a charity towards all men, particularly his opponents, and a hope which sprang from his lifelong gratitude for the gift of human life. May his innocence and his laughter, his constancy in fighting for the Christian faith in a world losing belief, his lifelong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and his love for all men, especially for the poor, bring cheerfulness to those in despair, conviction and warmth to lukewarm believers and the knowledge of God to those without faith. We beg Thee to grant the favours we ask through his intercession, the end of abortion in this Country [and especially for……] so that his holiness may be recognized by all and the Church may proclaim him Blessed. We ask this through Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Bishop Charles Henderson RIP & Pro-Life Vigils

Six years ago today Bishop Charles Henderson died, please say a pray for the repose of his soul. You can read his full obituary here, it starts, Bishop Charles Henderson will be remembered as a dedicated and tireless pastor and also as someone who led the way in putting into practice the Second Vatican Council’s documents on Christian unity and inter-faith dialogue.
To be honest with you this may be the case, but I'm sure that is not how he was introduced to God upon his death. Trumpets sounded and the Choirs of Angels burst forth in song, "Here stands the first Bishop to pray outside an abortuary in England."
There will be Mass for His Lordship today, in the Good Counsel Chapel.
[Bishop John Hine, Catholic auxiliary bishop of Southwark is joining the vigil at Marie Stopes abortion facility (where Bishop Henderson prayed), Brewer Street, Maidstone, Kent ME14 1RV, on Friday, 27th April 2012, the 44th aniversary of the Abortion Act. Bishop Hine is celebrating the 12.30 Mass at St. Francis's Church, Week Street, Maidstone. He is then joining in the vigil which begins with a prayerful and peaceful procession with an image of Our Lady of Guadalupe to the Marie Stopes abortuary and concludes with a return procession at 2.30 p.m.]

Phillip Blond's Greatest Piece Of Writing.

Last year I met Dale Ahlquist of the America Chesterton Society. Dale mentioned Phillip Blond and his book The Red Tory, as I'd never heard of him and the title sounded interesting (not as interesting as The Body in the Silo), off I went to the library to find his book. It is very good, but I felt that he was capable of even great writing. And when I found that I was on Twitter I started to follow him.

Then Cardiff City FC, whom I support, had to play Liverpool FC, who Mr Blond supports, in The League Cup Final (26th February). He had tickets, so I, watching on TV was out of sorts to start with. At the end of the game I said, "If a Premiership team can't beat a Championship team after 2 hours, they should not be allowed a Goalkeeper for the penalties. Wouldn't have mattered as we saved 1, but missed our own!" (Why did someone let a LFC fan take our last penalty?)

Mr Blond then came back with the following, truly GREAT piece of writing on twitter; "@Phillip_Blond @Stuart1927 Cardiff were great and we were lucky - compelling end"

Do read Mr Blond's book, and follow him on Twitter, not that he needs my help as over 8,000 people follow him already, in fact forget that, you should both follow me instead!

What do you mean, "Why is that such a great piece of writing?" Because it's made my blog look even more ecumenical than normal, for not only is Mr Blond a Liverpool supporter, but he is also an Anglican. I know me quoting a Prod and not having a bash, whatever next?

(Sorry if this blog is not so well written, but it's been written in bits. On way to the office, change of plan, drop some things there, then go over to 40 Days for Life as they're short between 10-11am, then over to Eddie who runs the daily Pro-Life vigil outside Whitfield St abortuary, as he is on his own because one supporter is sick and another is away this week, then back to the office, too late to serve at The Holy Sacrifice of The Mass, but in time to see a pregnant women who did not go into the abortuary, but is coming for help instead.)

It's That Bishop Again!

Roman Catholic Bishop Alan Hopes will join 40 days for Life London to lead us in prayer for an end to abortion. Bishop Hopes will arrive at the abortuary at 26-27 Bedford Square London, WC1B 3HP, for 7pm on Friday 4th November.

A few months ago Bishop Hopes joined the Helpers of God's Precious Infants in Twickenham to lead a pro-life vigil at another BPAS abortion facility (Report & Photos).

We feel very blessed to have Bishop Hopes with us. This will be the first time 40 Days for Life London has had a bishop join us in prayer at the vigil.

You are warmly invited to join us and bring a friend or anyboby else if you don't have any friends.

Deerstalker tip to John Smeaton

But why does it say, "or be quiet" in the title? [when I put this post up before, the title was Invitation To Pray With Bishop Hopes, Or Be Quiet!] Simple, here is a Bishop doing something right and just, be there or don't complain about the Bishops. 20% of the Bishops of Westminster will take part in 40 Days for Life, if 20% of the Mass attending Catholics in Westminster did the same the abortuary would close. Prove me wrong if you can, you just need to get 30,336 Catholics to attend the vigil!

Missa Cantata, Our Lady and St Catherine of Siena, Bow, London

There will be a Missa Cantata (Sung Old Rite Mass), on Wednesday 2nd of November at Our Lady and St Catherine of Siena, 177 Bow Road, London, E3 2SG. Fr Michael Dunne the Parish Priest, pictured here praying at the Whitfield Street abortuary, will be the Celebrant at the 7pm Mass. There will be a professional choir, but for the life of me I cannot remember which Mass they will sing!

Do attend if you can, as it is always good to support a sound Catholic Priest who does so much to support the Pro-Life movement etc. And here is Father, second from the right, next to Bishop Hopes, but was he Deacon or Sub-Deacon?

40 Days for Life is now back in London. People will be praying and counselling outside the BPAS abortuary at 26-27 Bedford Square, London WC1B 3HP, 8am until 8pm everyday, until 6th November. It is a fact that many lives have been saved in London since 40 Days for Life started here last year. Are You Pro-Life?

Are you pro-life? Would you like the opportunity to help stop abortions taking place in London? Could you give up a few hours this Saturday to help spread awareness in East London?

SPUC OUTREACH IN STRATFORD

Newham Borough in East London has the highest abortion rate in the U.K. (39.9 per 1000 women) and has the sixth highest number in Europe, with 2,341 abortions taking place every year. BPAS have recently opened a new abortion centre in the area, and so the Society for the Protection of Unborn Children will be doing a pro-life outreach there on Saturday 20th August. We aim to inform the local public about the positive pro-life services available, raise awareness about exactly what is happening in the area, and campaign against the new opening. Join SPUC this Saturday as help is needed to man the stall, distribute pro-life literature and engage with the public.

Meet outside Stratford Tube Station at 10.30am. We will finish no later than 2pm. Other details are on our facebook event: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=147099005375311&view=wall¬if_t=event_wall

Hope to see you there!

Any queries please contact: 02078203140

Very happy to let you all know about this, if you cannot be there please pray and see here for other vigils. Photo is of John Smeaton of SPUC talking to Mgr Reilly of The Helpers of God's Precious Infants.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Pro-Life Prayer vigil - London 2nd July

If you are unable to attend the Chesterton Conference in Oxford on the 2nd, the following should be of interest to you;

A Little Miracle?
There was a Marian pro-life prayer vigil on 28th May. It was a powerful and prayerful experience. There was also at least 1 confirmed turnaround. However, it didn't end there. From that day onwards there was a total of 13 turnarounds in two weeks. That hasn't happened before. If you receive emails from
Good Counsel or read their blog you'll see what I mean. It was felt that such results were a special blessing from Our Lady. With this in mind, there will be another vigil. There will also be an announcement about some serious news which will require our prayers and pro-life efforts.

What:
Prayers of consecration and reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for the unborn, their parents, and the abortion employees. We will of course have trained and experienced counsellors throughout.

When:
Saturday 2nd July 2011 (Feast of the Immaculate Heart of Mary)

Where:
Bedford Square London WC1B. Same location as last time and 40 Days for Life. Nearest tube stations are Goodge Street and Tottenham Court Road. You can take any bus going to Tottenham Court Road or Gower Street.

Time:
8.30am-1pm. You can come for all or part of the vigil.

Contact:
daniel-40days[AT]hotmail.co.uk (the AT should be @ when actually sending an email. This is done to prevent spam.

And you may even make it along to the end of the Pakistan Protest March defending Christians in that country. But if not do sign the Petition.

The Pro-Life Talk On Wednesday

Monsignor Philip J Reilly, the founder of the Helpers of God's Precious Infants will be in London on Wednesday. He will be giving a talk at St James' Church, Spanish Place, 22 George Street, London, W1U 3QY, on Wednesday 18th May 2011 at 7.30pm.

The number of babies, as well as Mothers & Fathers saved from the horrors of abortion by God's Grace, through this Priest is amazing. Should we go to the abortuary and pray? What should we do when we are there? Do Bishops and Priests need to go? Will me going really make a dfference? Over years I've heard Monsingor answer all of this and much more besides.

John Smeaton (SPUC) Added To My Blog Roll

I have added John Smeaton's blog to my blog roll (see below) as he does not come ahead of Maria Stops Abortion alphabetically! But also because I so often think to reprint his posts here, and have done so from time to time. While I do not agree with everything he says, I can say that you need to read his posts if you are Pro-Life.

His blog is also, I believe, one of only 4 blogs to support Bishop Hopes going to pray outside the abortuary in Twickenham. We read much criticism of Bishops here in blogland, and rightly so some of the time, but praise where praise is due. (Pray The Rosary for a Bishop)

You can read his Biography on his blog, but just to add to it, the photo of him here (on the right), is of him praying outside marie stopes abortuary in Central London, with Good Counsel as part of the daily vigil.

Bishop Hopes Leads The Way To The Abortuary

Father Emmanuel gives the thumbs-up to Bishop Hopes plan to pray outside the Twickenham abortuary. (16th April)

Age is no obstacle, the lady in the wheel chair is in her eighties! And my son below, with a radio so we could hear the Bishop on both sides of the road, is 3 and there were younger children there!

One Family that I spoke to had travelled 20 miles to be there! Don't worry if you missed this vigil there are sadly many opportunities to pray at abortuarys! See here and here. And keep an eye on this blog as I will post details of the next English Bishop to pray at an abortuary, in July. This last photo shows the Bishop and the rest of the crowd. (for a close up of the Bishop click here)

So sign up to Pray a Rosary for Bishops Hopes.

Bishop Slaps Priests & Faithful

On Saturday 16th April Bishop Alan Hopes of Westminster will pray outside the abortuary in Twickenham (Details). This will mean that 20% of the Bishops currently living in Westminster will have prayed at an abortuary this year.

We would need 145 Priests living in Westminster to pray at the abortuary to make 20%!

But before we all pat ourselves on the back and say, "Oh those Priests!", remember that we would need 30,334 of the Mass going Catholics in Westminster to pray at an abortuary to make 20%!

I know you are busy, I know you do lots of good works, but there are over 50,000 abortions in London each year, see you on Saturday. Do remember that when you die God will not ask you "Was your Bishop/Priest/neighbour there?" He will just ask, "Where you there?" The correct answer is "Yes" or "I was at another abortuary".

See you on Saturday.

Sorry You're Too Far On For Us To Abort Your Baby

"Sorry you're too far on for us to abort your Baby, go straight to the Hospital they can still do it." This is what the young 23 week pregnant Spanish girl said to her friend as she came out of the Whitfield Street (London) abortuary. I had already been speaking to her friend in my 'Spanish', so she was happy to talk for a few minutes. I was able to give her a help leaflet in Spanish and offer her the help she would need to continue her pregnancy. She went away to think things over. Despite being 23 weeks pregnant, she had only found out that she was pregnant five days ago! While this was going on we had 4 prayer supporters the other side of the road(see photo).

I don't know what that girl will do, but I know that most women going for an abortion do not receive any offer of help before they have a 'doctor' kill their child. Please come and pray at this abortuary in Whitfield Street, London, nearest stations are Warren Street and Great Portland Street, 9-1.30pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. (Contact Good Counsel 02077231740 for more details or contact The Helpers of God's Precious Infants for details of other locations around the country).

Note re my 'Spanish'. I have spent a number of years telling any of my Latin American friends and colleagues, that could not understand my 'Spanish', that this was because, 'I speak Spanish and not Latin American, sorry', much to the amusement/annoyance of them all! Both these girls were from Spain! But as they both spoke good English, the legend that I speak Spanish remains intact!

It Snowed On Me, Because I'm Pro-Life

As I looked out yesterday morning the world was covered in snow, but it did not seem to be snowing. A while later when I left home, heading to the abortuary (108 Whitfield St, London,W1T 5EA) to pray and offer help to the Mums going in, it was snowing. Thank You God.

The rain it raineth on the just
And also on the unjust fella;
But chiefly on the just, because
The unjust steals the just's umbrella.

And so the abortionist is inside, while we get snowed upon. The Catholic Pro-Life Movement is just! Come and join us while this weather lasts! Next week, 9am until 1.30pm, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.

Pro Life Vigil In The Snow

I woke up yesterday to find snow falling all around, and Good Counsel (James from Good Counsel actually, Conor was there on Monday) were off to pray at marie stopes abortuary in Whitfield Street London. It was time to offer it up to God, for those praying in the snow and for the Mums and Babies. So I dropped my Wife to the dentist and told her to offer up any pain, sent out a text telling everyone else to pray and sacrifice and then went to the cafe for breakfast!

It all went well from what I have been told and will be on again today and Friday this week, for details see my last post. I'm only laughing about not going myself yesterday as I know I will do there very soon..... and you?
(It was snowing when the photo was taken, but sadly that is not clear)

Urgent, Pro Life Vigil At London Abortuary

"Here at The Good Counsel Network, we are intending to increase the weekday pro-life presence outside marie stopes abortuary, 108 Whitfield Street, W1T 5EA. The nearest tube stations are Great Portland Street and Warren Street. The week commencing Monday 29th November 2010, I will be there pavement counselling from 9am-1.30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. We hope to have prayer supporters, counsellors and Priests to cover all of these times.

The Holy Father has asked all the faithful to have a Vigil of Prayer for Nascent Human Life, during the first week of Advent. As we prepare for the coming of Our Saviour’s birth, and as we meditate on Our Lord developing in the womb of Mary, and recall His vulnerability and how He was born in the humble dwelling of a stable, the flight from Herod’s tyranny to Egypt, and the putting to death of the new born Innocents, I invite you to come to the abortuary and pray. What a wonderful opportunity to prepare for the coming of the Christ Child during Advent. Any turn around that happens outside an abortuary is due to God's grace granted through the peaceful prayerful witness of Priests and lay faithful.
If you can’t come for the whole four and half hours, I encourage you to do two hours.

Whatever time you can spare is much appreciated, and will help save many children, through God’s Grace from the tyrannical clutches of the new “Herod”, and save many Mums and Dads from anguish and despair.

If you are unable to come, due to infirmity or ill health, please find time even for a short while to pray, and fast if you are able, while we are there, so that hearts may be changed and despairing souls transformed and illuminated through the Merciful Heart of Christ.
If you can't stand for long periods of time, feel free to bring a fold up chair. If you are able to come for the whole of, or part of the vigil, please email me at info@goodcounselnetwork.freeserve.co.uk or call me on 02077231740. I look forward to seeing you there. Without your prayerful presence, Mothers may not choose life for their children."
I have taken this from the Good Counsel blog, if you can attend please contact them so they know when enough people will be there.
