Pope Benedict XVI Reads This Blog

A long time ago when I wrote my most popular post so far, I noticed on my site meter that someone in the Vatican had read it! I told my Wife, "The Holy Father reads my blog!" She then pointed out that it could in fact have been any one of the couple of thousand people who live at the Vatican. Not being one to let the facts get in the way of a good post, I've kept my eye on my site meter.

I first noted that my fan in the Vatican never looked at my blog while the Pope was offering The Holy Sacrifice of The Mass. This proves very little, I know, but it was a start. Then they stopped reading for a few days, during which time someone in Turkey started to read this blog. When the Pope and his entourage arrived back at the Vatican after the trip to Turkey, my Vatican reader was back on my site meter!

I've kept a list of who has and who hasn't been on each trip with the Holy Father since, as well as noting when the person at the Vatican stopped reading while away. With a process of elimination, by the time the Pope was in Mexico in March, I had narrowed it down to just two possibilities. Either the Pope or Fr John Bull (The official keeper of the Holy Father's poultry) reads this blog. Then the Pope landed in Cuba, leaving Fr Bull behind in Mexico to finish buying a few Mexican quails, and 'someone' in Cuba read my blog!

So there you have it, His Holiness, Pope Benedict XVI reads my blog! And so Holy Father, please have a very, very Happy April Fools Day!

The 'Tablet' Slams Welsh & English Bishops

John Smeaton has kindly pointed out a vile attack by The Pill on the Pro-Life stand taken by our Bishops in the case of Jon Cruddas MP. Mrs Pepinster, the editor of said tract, said "The suspicion [within the Labour party] of Catholic MPs and their agenda has also not been helped by pro-life groups who were vociferous in criticising the placing of an intern within Jon Cruddas' office because the MP in their eyes had failed to speak out on abortion."

Mr Smeaton, explains, 'Mrs Pepinster is referring to a move by the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales to reverse a decision to provide Dr Cruddas with an intern, as part of its parliamentary internship scheme.

Mrs Pepinster takes no account of the truth about Dr Cruddas's record on abortion. Dr Cruddas has not merely "failed to speak out on abortion", and not merely "in [the] eyes" of pro-lifers - Dr Cruddas is on record defending legal abortion.'

Further proof, if any were needed, that I was right........to issue the permit to John. Do go off and read all of John's post as there was lots of other bits in it.

Permit To Readest The Pill

I hereby givest unto John Smeaton Knight-errant, one Lawful permit to readest that evil publication which callest itself 'The Tablet'. This diabolical tract, known to most as The Pill, can be a danger to one's Soul. But as with all written attacks upon our Holy Mother the Church, it must needs be monitored. Having read our Knight-errant's letter to the rag (on his blog, as I do not read it), it is clear that under the supervision of his Spiritual Director, John is able to do good in defending The Church from this organ of dissent.

A year ago today The Pill died as a Catholic magazine when it went public with a pro-abortion edition.

Email The Holy Father

There is quite a bit of negative stuff out there about The Holy Father's visit to Britain later this week. Hardly surprising when we remember who is the prince of this world. The negative ones, be it the BBC (Beelzebub Brainwashing Catholics), The Tablet, newspapers, lay catholics, or even clergy, end up doing the evil one's dirty work for him. Some do so knowingly, some unknowingly and yet others just fall for his temptations of, 'It's too much trouble.....' etcetera.

Please e-mail the Holy Father (benedictxvi@vatican.va) and thank him for the visit and for his leadership. Offer some prayers for him, The Good Counsel Network will be having twenty seven hours of Adoration to spiritually support the Holy Father & his visit to Britain (sorry, but as he is not going to Wales, it is just Britain and not Great Britain).

Then pack a Welsh flag or two and see you at Hyde Park

Yes going to see the Holy Father will not be without a struggle, they will make it hard for us.

John Smeaton On The Tablet

John Smeaton of SPUC, has a very interesting post (http://bit.ly/95klN8) which in part shows that The Tablet is totally anti-Catholic. It is clear that The Pill is totally rotten to it's core and may well always have been. As one comment on Fr Z's blog said in response to my post, Catholics Don't Take The Pill Or The Tablet, I’m reading “The Letters and Diaries of John Henry Newman”, and occasional mentions of the Tablet pop up, with comments strikingly similar to ours (of course, I’m also not an Ultramontane!). Let’s see, so far for this volume, subtitled The Vatican Council, I found:
“The Tablet is far from accurate in many of its details.”—Bishop W. B. Ullathorne, 20 January 1870 (XXV, 18, n. 1).
“I go about very little [in Rome], but wherever I do go, I find the Tablet is considered intolerable.”—Henry James Coleridge, S.J., 23 March 1870 (XXV, 60, n. 3).

Catholics Don't Take the Pill or The Tablet Part II

Further to my post, Catholics Don't take the Pill or The Tablet I have written to the Parish Priests where I mostly attend Mass. I have asked one to stop selling The Tablet and asked the other Priest to stop leaving his old copy out at the back of the Church and asked him to cancel his subscription. I enclosed a printout of my post so as to make the reasons clear, please do the same if you know a Priest (or anyone else) who reads or sells this rag. I will be writing to my local WH Smith this week to ask them to stop stocking it or loose my custom, do let me know what reply you receive from your local WH Smith and from your Priests.

Catholics Don’t Take the Pill or The Tablet

There is a custom in the Catholic Church of a Month’s Mind Mass, which liturgically is the Mass on the 30th day after death or burial. As ‘The Tablet' finally died as a Catholic magazine with its 5th June 2010 pro-abortion issue, today is it’s Month’s Mind. Others will write, and have written, long polite articles explaining The Tablet’s long and painful spiritual death. So I will focus on a couple of points; personal insulting of women and what is to be done now.
My Wife and I lost a child two years ago through an ectopic pregnancy, for The Tablet to try and use this to promote abortion (by claiming this is an example of the Church permitting “abortion”) is at best evil. This is an insult to countless couples who have had to live through this tragic situation. The only thing that could be worse than this is to think of the Priests & Bishops, under whose pastoral care we are, showing us and our deceased children nothing but contempt by reading this rag.
It is a sin to read this rag or to allow it to be sold in your Church. “But I don’t read all of it, I just like the articles by.....” To support evil financially is not okay even if you don’t read all of it. “I’m just the Curate, not the Parish Priest there is nothing I can do about it.” So ask the PP to stop selling it and if he won’t, ask your Bishop for a transfer! That may ruin your career Father, but Hell is full of the prudent who tolerate evil. “If I stop selling it that will upset some of my parishioners.” Oh dear! Human respect leads to Hell.
“What about the right to debate and free speech?” I doubt that The Tablet will print an article by Bishop Richard Williamson SSPX on World War II or Nick Griffin (BNP) on Race-Relations. No reasonable person believes in unlimited ‘free speech’.
I will stop now, the bottom line is; if you have a subscription to The Tablet cancel it today, if you read it stop today, if you sell it stop today, if you write for it stop today.
